Lock Haven’s Anthony Noto named MAC East Wrestler of the Week
CLEVELAND – Top-ranked Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the nationally-ranked Lock Haven men’s wrestling team has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week.
Noto, ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds, dominated in his much-anticipated season-debut over the weekend as Lock Haven took on Arizona State and Army in dual action. Noto recorded back-to-back tech falls to start the season 2-0.
The Bald Eagle needed just 4:40 to earn the tech fall over Arizona State’s Max Brewster, 18-3. Again, Noto was too much from start-to-finish and dominated No. 27 Ethan Berginc of Army 20-5 (7:00).
Lock Haven will return to the mats on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Navy Classic Tournament (9 a.m.), to be hosted at the McDonogh School is Owings Mills, Maryland.
Looking ahead, Noto also eyes competition at the 2023 National Wrestling Coaches’ Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic. The exhibition event is set for Tuesday, Nov. 21 (7 p.m.) in Penn State’s Rec Hall, and Noto will square off vs. Purdue’s Matt Ramos, last year’s national runner-up.
