Flemington Bridge on track for return of two-lane traffic by Thanksgiving
CLEARFIELD, PA – A PennDOT spokesman in Clearfield said Tuesday that repair work on the Flemington Bridge should be far enough along to allow the return of two-way traffic by the previously announced Thanksgiving goal. Spokesman Timothy Nebgen told therecord-online a specific two-lane re-opening date should be announced by later this week.
He also reported that the sidewalk on the bridge’s south side likely won’t be reopened until mid-December.
Meanwhile temporary traffic signals continue to enforce an alternating traffic pattern that sees drivers take turns crossing the bridge via the open lane. The bridge remains closed to pedestrians during the current phase of the construction.
The bridge links Flemington to the heavily traveled Hogan Boulevard in adjacent Bald Eagle Township. It has been limited to one-lane traffic for much of the construction season, delayed after inspectors found that additional repair work was required.
