LH Men’s Soccer edged in defensive battle vs. Millersville

LOCK HAVEN, PA–  The Lock Haven men’s soccer team (4-6-3, 1-4-2 PSAC East) battled Millersville University (8-2-3, 5-1-2) to the wire in the pouring rain at Hubert Jack Stadium, but the Marauders first-half goal proved to be enough as the Bald Eagles fell, 1-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on Saturday (Oct. 14).

Rain fell from the sky from the start until the end of the match, which led to a defensive battle that featured just four shots on goal. Lock Haven led the match 6-3 in total shots.

After 20 minutes of scoreless soccer to open the match, Millersville connected on the game’s first shot on goal in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Haven defense was shut down from that point, while the offense controlled possession for the majority of the second half, but the Bald Eagles did not find the back of the net and the Marauders held on for the win.

Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) broke free in the final minute to create a one-on-one scoring opportunity, but the ball trickled away into the arms of the diving Millersville keeper.

Lock Haven goalkeeper Brady Freiwald (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) finished with one save.
