Flemington bridge on track for Monday, Sept. 25 afternoon one-lane re-opening
FLEMINGTON, PA – PennDOT plans to reopen the Flemington Bridge to one-lane, traffic-light controlled traffic on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 25. The Record has learned through a PennDOT representative a formal announcement will be coming later on Thursday, but the bridge should be open to one-lane traffic for the first time this summer.
Originally PennDOT had announced the under-repair bridge, earlier limited to traffic light-controlled one-lane traffic, would be shut down to through traffic for the month of June but it was determined that additional work would be needed, thus the extended shutdown; now nearing the three-month mark.
A later goal was to have one-lane traffic available before the start of Keystone Central School District classes on Aug. 30, but that date was not met. Officials of the district made alternate plans for transporting bus students to schools affected by the bridge closure.
