Keystone Big Band 5:00 PM
The Keystone Big Band was formed in 1985 by drummer Bud Hallberg and guitarist Paul Mills. Originally named the Keystone Society of Swing ( SOS ) is a group of serious musicians playing for the joy of recreating the sounds of the past and present. Their original idea was to form a group of musicians to recreate a similar band of the past “The Jive Five” in which a 14 year old Bud Hallberg was the driving force behind the popular group of local musicians. When the word went out that Bud and Flip were organizing a new band in the area many musicians from surrounding areas were interested in participating. Original members of the “SOS”’ were from all over central Pennsylvania. (Williamsport, Jersey Shore, Lock Haven, Renovo, Milesburg, State College, Julian, etc. ) The 1st “gig” of the newly formed Keystone SOS was in Oct. 1986 performing at Phyllis Hanobic’s fund raising event for the Flaming Foliage.

The Keystone Big Band is a not-for-profit organization, consisting of some of the finest musicians in the Central Pennsylvania Region who play for the pure joy of recreating the sounds of the big band era from the thirties and forties and also some great sounding charts from the modern era’s. Please Sit back and enjoy the Sounds as Budstock proudly presents for your listening and dancing pleasure, The Keystone Big Band.
