Obituary – Wilbert F. “Toby” Hess, Jr.

Wilbert F. “Toby” Hess, Jr., 74, of S. Renovo passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at his residence.

Born August 14, 1948 in Renovo he was a son of the late Wilbert F. Hess, Sr. and Geneva A. (Schmoke) Hess.

Toby was married to the former Bonnie K. Brooks on February 3, 1973. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together.

He worked as a welder for Cherokee Welding Co., Inc. in Maryland, ACI, Berwick Forge and Chemcom.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Toby enjoyed going to his camp “The Ponderosa” in Keating and spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his loving wife, three daughters, Brenda (Tim) Grab of Montgomery, Beth (Jim) Kelley of Mill Hall and Wendy Hess of S. Renovo.

Seven grandchildren, Ronald Downs, Cassidy Grab, Rebecca Forman, Autumn Grab, Hannah Raup, Sophia Grab and Curtis Hess and four great grandchildren, Jayce Forman, Olivia Hess, Brody Schomberg and Zach Schomberg.

Also, a brother John (Nancy) Hess of Renovo.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Maxwell Funeral Home 205 Fifth St., Renovo with Martha Sykes officiating.

Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service.

The family will provide the flowers.

Burial will follow at North Bend Cemetery with Military honors.
