Keystone 11s take 2-1 win at state tourney
WEST CHESTER, PA – The Keystone 11 All-Stars used some extra-inning magic to post a 2-1, seven-inning win over West Point in a Sunday elimination game at the state Little League championships in West Chester.
The win, after a first-round Saturday loss to Abington, keeps Keystone alive in the double-elimination event. Next up is a Monday 6:15 p.m. game against the winner of a Sunday game between East Side and CR-Newtown.
Keystone and West Point were scoreless through six innings of regulation play on Sunday. Then Keystone pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh. Ehan Nestor singled and scored on a triple from Chase Karstetter. Then Karstetter came home on a sacrifice fly from Mack Packer.
West Point was able to plate a run off Keystone’s Brad Brungard but he was able to retire the side and pick up the 2-1 win. Brungard went 4.1 innings, giving up one hit and one run while striking out seven and walking six.
Karstetter worked 1.2 innings on the mound, giving up two hits and Austin Dupert pitched a scoreless inning.
Dupert had two hits, including a double, Karstetter a triple and single, Nestor and Carter Miller with singles.
