Trudy’s Yoga and Beyond

A Voyage of Self-Discovery and a Home For Yoga Lovers

By Emily Wright

Clinton County has a new yoga studio offering yoga classes for individuals of all levels of experience. In addition to yoga, Red Light Treatments are available at the studio as well.

Studio owner, Trudy Fritts, has been a certified yoga alliance provider and health educator for 34 years. Although her new studio is located in the Piper Museum building in Lock Haven, she has been in business for 20 years, having owned and operated studios in Montoursville and Williamsport previously. She seeks to share the ancient wisdom and healing benefits found in practicing yoga and shares her knowledge and expertise through yoga classes, which are held in her new space every weekday except Thursday.

Trudy’s Yoga and Beyond offers a variety of yoga methods. Having formerly been a fitness instructor, Fritts now operates her yoga studio in Lock Haven where she teaches classes for beginners, intermediates, and advanced students. Other specialized yoga practices that she offers include alignment-focused practices, spiritually oriented practices, and gentle yoga, just to name a few. Fritts also offers hot yoga upon request.

Trudy’s studio not only offers yoga classes but also Red Light Therapy. According to Fritts,

“Red light therapy is one of the most powerful non-invasive body-shaping and health-enhancing therapies available today.”

On Fritts’ website, Red Light Therapy is explained, stating that its LED-powered energy emits wavelengths of red and “near-infrared” that reach the cellular level. The red light treatment provides clients with weight loss, anti-aging rejuvenation, and natural healing effects. The results typically become visible after the first few treatments, with long-term effects dependent on calorie intake. Fritts emphasizes the need to maintain a healthy diet while undergoing red light therapy treatments to maximize the full benefits.

In an interview with Fritts, we discussed her background and service offerings in-depth. She says that her journey as a yoga instructor began after sustaining a foot injury and attending specialized training for fitness instructors.

“I traveled to Malibu, California for fitness training. It was there that I discovered red light therapy and was also introduced to yoga,”

Fritts explained that she found inspiration in both practicing yoga and the natural healing benefits that come from using red light therapy while she was at the training, despite not previously having any specific interest in teaching yoga. She claims that after two months of practicing yoga, she felt inspired to open a business so that she could share the healing benefits that go with it, especially when practiced in conjunction with Red Light Therapy,

“I just want people to feel better and be better overall,” she says.

When asked what distinguishes her studio from others, Fritts pointed out her Trifecta Red Light Therapy bed, as well as the fact that she gives a personalized experience based on each client’s needs. During the first appointment, Fritts provides a client symptom survey to assess each client’s needs, the benefits they seek, and how frequently she advises they return for future treatments to get the desired results. She noted that some insurance providers will cover Red Light Therapy depending on the client’s needs and what kind of coverage their insurance provides. Based on her experience working with health insurance providers, clients wanting cosmetic or weight reduction results may not be covered, but some of her clients seeking pain relief have discovered that their insurance company will cover at least a portion of their Red Light Therapy.

Trifecta Red Light Therapy, the company behind the Red Light Therapy service given at Trudy’s Yoga and Beyond, is well-known for its healing capabilities and has even gotten a name for itself since the Pittsburgh Steelers began to use it along with other members of the NFL. The bed, which resembles a tanning bed, is both safe and non-invasive.

“Trifecta Red Light Therapy is good for any pain or inflammation a client may be experiencing in addition to anti-aging benefits and fat loss,” she explained.

“Red Light Therapy sessions can be done intermittently or repeated until the client achieves the results they’re looking for depending on their needs”.

She notes that there are no known risks or side effects; clients won’t experience any bruising, swelling, burning, or pain.

“It’s the safest and least invasive way to sculpt and heal the body,” she says.

Testimonials on her website speak for the benefits of undergoing Red Light Therapy. One client spoke on behalf of the weight loss benefits, stating,

“I just completed my first Trifecta Light Therapy session two days ago. My main concern when I started was belly fat. After about a week and a half, I started to notice that my belly started to seem flatter, and my pants seemed to fit looser. I have tried everything in the past including hitting the gym and dieting… but nothing really worked for me. Trifecta Light Therapy had made it possible for me to lose the weight I needed to lose.”

Trudy’s Yoga and Beyond is officially open for business at One Piper Way, Suite 3-B in Lock Haven. She notes that her studio is handicap accessible and that her yoga classes are open, so there is no need to pre-register to attend.
