Boil water advisory continues for part of Wayne Township

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, PA – Lock Haven officials announced Monday that a boil water advisory remains in effect for part of Wayne Township.

According to the release from City Hall, residents of Cochise Trail, Geronimo Trail, and Hiawatha Trail may still be at increased risk for Microbial Contamination. On Tuesday, June 27 the system experienced a loss of positive water pressure due to a planned power outage at the nearby water filtration plant. Since then, according to the Monday release, the city has consistently tested the water in the system which has continued to test positive for Microbial Contamination. Residents are urged to continue to use caution and boil water until the city receives two positive daily tests in a row showing the water is once again safe for consumption.

Residents should not drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using; or use bottled water. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

City Hall said it will inform those affected when all corrective actions have been completed and when there is no longer a need to boil water. For more information, please contact the Water Department at 570-893-5909.
