BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – It was bumper-to-bumper to get into the Mill Hall Sheetz on Fourth of July morning as area residents responded in droves to a Sheetz storewide Independence Day promotion, a gallon of gas going for $1.776.
Two state police troopers were on duty Tuesday morning, providing traffic control at the Hogan Boulevard store. Traffic was backed up to where Mill Hall Road (the Mill Hall/Flemington connector) empties onto Hogan Boulevard and also on the road adjacent to the nearby Lowe’s..
There were similar traffic congestion reports elsewhere at the Altoona-based convenience store chain. The discount was to last until midnight or supplies ran out. Sheetz operates some 675 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
Sheetz had announced earlier that the promotion, marking the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, would start at 12:01 a.m. on July 4 at all locations. The discount includes regular, E85, ethanol free, unleaded 88, mid-grade and premium; diesel fuel is not part of the promotion.
