Clinton jobless rate shows continued improvement
HARRISBURG, PA – Clinton County continued to see a positive trend in unemployment figures during the month of April, according to information released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor and Industry.
The state reports the county monthly rate was 4.2%, one of the lowest in recent times. One month ago, the reading was 4.4%. In April 2022, the unemployment rate for the county was 5.2%.
Chester County had a 2.6% reading making it the lowest out of the state’s 67 counties. Clinton County ranked no. 42, while Cameron was last with a 6.2% rate. The Commonwealth had a 4.1% reading.
For the week ending May 20, Clinton County had 26 residents file for an initial jobless claim, as compared to 37 for the same time period in 2022. The state said the county had 162 registered under the continued claim category, with 17% of them in the construction. In late May 2022, the county’s continued claim number was 178.
