Wildcat baseball notches 11-5 Senior Day win with Hollywood ending

MILL HALL, PA – Central Mountain baseball coach Mike Kramer and the Wildcat baseball booster club could not have scripted a better Senior Day story than Wednesday’s at Mill Hall Community Park. Not only did coach Kramer utilize all ten senior players, all contributed to an 11-5 win over Lewisburg. And as for the Hollywood ending, Wildcat players prevailed upon coach Kramer to bring two-year starter/catcher Nate “Hollywood” Helms to the mound with two outs in Lewisburg’s final at bat. Helms made one pitch, got a fly ball out and ended his scholastic pitching career with a flawless showing and a full round of congratulations from his teammates..

In the meantime, the Wildcats tattooed three Green Dragon pitchers for 15 hits, drilling baseballs all over the field, including four triples and a double. Braylen Corter and Kelvin Probst led the hit parade with three each, Corter with a double and Kelvin with a triple. Gabe Johnson had a single, a triple and four RBIs; Levi Schlesinger with a single and three RBIs.

Helms finished with two singles, Cru Stover and Chase Brush with triples and Jack Hanna and Cayden Culvey with singles.

Three Wildcats shared mound duties: Dallas Alexander went the first four, giving up seven hits and three runs and earning the win. Kevin Grenninger worked 2.2 innings, giving up one hit, two runs and striking out five. Helms finished with the game’s final out.

The win was Central Mountain’s third in three days and put the Wildcat record at 16-1. Next up is a non-conference contest at home Friday with Mifflin County (5-10). District 6 playoff pairings will be announced on Tuesday of next week. The Wildcats are the defending Class 5A champions.

Seniors recognized before the game were Dallas Alexander, Nate Helms, Braylen Corter, Gabe Johnson, Cru Stover, Kelvin Probst, Levi Schlesinger, Jack Hanna, Cayden Culvey and Chase Brush.
