Central Mountain Athletics: wintertime success, springtime recognition
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP PA – Central Mountain High School’s three wintertime Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference champions were recognized in a special presentation in the Central Mountain High School auditorium on Friday. Athletic Director Steve Hafele recognized the Wildcat wrestling, boys’ basketball, and unified bocce squads for their accomplishments. The teams’ plaques will be mounted in the entranceway into the Wildcat gym.
The teams and their accomplishments:
Unified Bocce –
First place in the first year for a Heartland Conference league championship;
Undefeated regular season;
Second place in 12-team regional competition.
Boys’ Basketball –
Penns Valley Winter Ram Jam tourney champions;
PHAC Division 1 champions;
PHAC Tournament champions;
District 6 5A champions;
Two different 10-game win streaks;
Most wins, 24, in school history.
Wrestling –
PHAC Division 1 champions;
Tom Best Memorial Top Hat, 5th of 24 teams;
King of the Mountain, first of 30 teams;
Powerade, 14th of 67 teams;
Escape the Rock, 10th of 53 teams (first among public schools);
Ultimate Warrior tourney, lst of 42 teams;
District 6 AAA dual meet champions;
PIAA AAA state dual tourney, semifinalist, top six finish;
District 6 tournament team champs;
PIAA AAA Northwest Region team champs.
