Renovo’s old railyard site: What now?
RENOVO, PA – As the Renovo area and the rest of Clinton County deal with, for most, the disheartening news that the billion-dollar Renovo Energy Center project won’t happen, the question becomes, what now?
The question was posed Monday to Mike Flanagan, President/CEO of the Clinton County Economic Partnership, the lead local agency in the effort to bring the REC project to fruition. He told therecord-online that, just a handful of days removed from REC’s announcement, “I do not know what the future will hold although the Partnership will do its best to try and bring commerce to the borough.”
As for the old railroad yard site, Flanagan said a majority of the property is owned by Renovo Rail Industries and some 12 acres to the rear of the site is owned outright by local businessman Bobby Maguire. Jersey Shore State Bank has the mortgage on the Renovo Rail property. Flanagan said he does not know of the bank’s plans at this point. REC has an option on the site for several years, including paying the real estate taxes to the local taxing bodies. REC also had a several year option on the vacant W.T.Storey facility at the adjacent Renovo Industrial Park.
