Northwest makes quick work of Bucks in 3 innings

By Bees O’Brien

FARWELL, PA- Bucktail baseball was looking to turn over a new leaf following their first victory of the season in their last outing. Instead they on Friday met a fierce cross-divisional opponent in Northwest.

The Rangers wasted little time in making their two hour-plus trip to Farwell from Shickshinny worth their while. Northwest opened up early on Bucktail by scoring 10 runs in the top of the first inning.

Northwest (3-3, 3-1) kept pace with division leading Benton by tacking on five more runs in the top of the second and another five runs in the top of the third inning. The Bucks had no answer for the Rangers barrage of 12 hits in just 3 at-bats resulting in a 20-0 loss.

Kyler Friese continued to have an excellent season for Bucktail by collecting his squad’s only hit of the night with a double. Gary Whipp would reach base with a walk.

Bucktail, now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in Mid Penn play will be in conference action against divisional rivals Montgomery (2-2, 2-1) on Monday in Farwell.
