Obituary
Robert E. “Butch” Rooney, 79, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital.
Born December 22, 1943 in Renovo, he was the son of the late William and Mary Rossi Rooney.
Following graduation from St. Joseph’s High School, Renovo, Butch obtained a Bachelors degree from Dale Carnegie Institute of Philadelphia. Following obtaining his degree, he took a few courses at Lock Haven University, motivated by the personal desire to further educate himself.
On August 27, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo, Butch married the love of his life, the former Mary Louise Marino, who survives.
Butch started his working career at Firestone in Lock Haven before serving as a data processor for Lock Haven University. He then worked at both Hammermill and International Paper Company before retiring from Clinton County Government where he was elected to serve as County Auditor.
He was a member of the Lock Haven Elks and Lock Haven Son’s of Italy.
Butch enjoyed his time spent at his river lot and going for four wheeler rides on Webbs Hill. He especially enjoyed those times with his grandchildren, Bobby and Sophia, whom he adored.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Heather (Robert L.) Rooney-George of Lock Haven and their two children, Bobby and Sophia George; and his sister, Joanne (Bruce) Ransom of Renovo.
Along with his parents, Butch was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nicole Rooney.
Friends and family will be received for a time of viewing on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
Private burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Renovo.
