Walker Named Top Run-On

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State football player Von Walker has been accorded the “Outstanding Run-On Award” for this year’s Nittany Lion squad.

The recognition came Sunday at the State College Quarterback Club’s annual banquet at the Penn Stater.

Walker will share the award with fellow run-on Cole Chiappialle, a reserve running back and special teams player and like Walker in his second year in the Penn State program.

The honor recognized the two for the run-on “who exemplifies total commitment, loyalty, hard work and courage.”

Walker was a second team linebacker during the season and played on several special team units. Earlier this month he was recognized as an All Big 10 academic all-star.

He is a graduate of Central Mountain High School where he was a multi-sport standout and holds virtually all career Wildcat offensive records for a backfield performer.

The Nittany Lions (6-6) will finish the season participating in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl in New York’s Yankee Stadium Dec. 27, the opponent Boston College (7-5).
