LH women’s basketball extends win streak with PSAC East road win

MANSFIELD, PA – Behind a balanced scoring night that saw four Bald Eagles net double figures and an all-around strong defensive effort, the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (7-6, 5-3 PSAC) soared to a big, 73-57, road-win Wednesday evening at Mansfield University (1-11, 0-8 PSAC).

With the win, Lock Haven pushed above .500 at 7-6 overall, and the Bald Eagles moved to 5-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. LHU extended its win streak to three games with all three games coming in PSAC Eastern Division action. The victory pushed The Haven into a tie for second in the PSAC East standings.

Jenadia Jordan (Lititz, Pa./Linden Hall) finished with a career and game-high 19 points as she paced four Lock Haven players in double-figures. Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) netted 14 points, Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) scored 13 points, and Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) tallied a 10-point outing.

Jordan had a tremendous game all-around and she chipped in with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Robinson led a sensational defensive effort and she finished with eight rebounds to go along with six assists, and six blocks. The six blocks are most recorded in a single game by a Lock Haven women’s player since February 7, 2007, and the six blocks are tied for the most produced by a player in PSAC women’s hoops to date, this season.

Adaliz Corbin (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) added seven points and six rebounds and Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) finished with five points and seven rebounds as it was truly a total-team effort that led the Bald Eagles to the dominating victory on the road tonight up north in Tioga County.

Lock Haven forced 21 Mansfield turnovers and The Haven held a strong advantage on the glass.

For Mansfield, Jasmine Hinton scored 16 points and was one of two Mounties who scored in double figures.

Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Kutztown University. Opening tip is set for 1 p.m. in the PSAC Eastern Division clash.
