Richard Ross Kline, Jr.

Obituary

Richard Ross Kline, Jr., 80 of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2023 at Haven Place, surrounded by loved ones.  Born on December 24, 1942 in Bradford PA to the late Richard Ross Kline, Sr. and June M. Jordan Kline, he didn’t meet his father until he was two years old, as Richard Sr. was deployed to North Africa a few weeks before he was born.

Dick, as he was known, graduated from Bradford Area High School and served in the Army from 1966-1967.  He worked for the Woodring Detective Agency, American Color and Chemical Corporation, and the Lock Haven Hospital Maintenance Department until his retirement in 2014.  He had a keen mechanical mind and could fix nearly anything.

He was truly one of a kind with his combination of wit, sarcasm and warmth.  Dick loved family, making people laugh, conversations and live music.  He was a past or current member of many social clubs, including The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks – Lock Haven Lodge 182, Loyal Order of Moose, 40/8 Club 903, and American Legion Post 131.  Most recently, his favorite “club” was his Broken Axe “family”.

He loved Penn State Football (especially the tailgating part), Penn State Wrestling, Central Mountain Softball, family reunions, dogs, and mountain rides in the snow.

If the measure of a life is the number of people who call you friend, or were impacted positively by meeting you, then Dick lived the fullest life imaginable.

He is survived by a son, Todd C. Kline (and partner Nancy Rodabaugh) of Lock Haven, a daughter, Molly K. (Colby) Irvin of Beech Creek, as well as grandchildren Nicholas Kline, Elisabeth Kline, Kathryn Kline, and Selia Irvin.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas D. Kline, and a nephew, William “Bill” Wilson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 3 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastor Rick Conklin officiating.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Clinton County Relay for Life or Lock Haven Area Jaycees.
