Bucktail High School, Renovo Heritage Park partner on community service project: Pajamas Across America
By Christopher Miller
RENOVO – “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town” is the motto of a community service project that is taking Bucktail High School and Renovo Area Heritage Park by storm.
“Bucktail High School and Renovo Heritage Park have joined forces to collect items for the local chapter of the organization called “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” read the post that appeared on social media Tuesday evening.
“We are excited to help them out because this is such a great project,” said Heritage Park Board President Mary George Rhone. “They did a fantastic job at our Annual Halloween Party and Haunted Mansion that I want to spread to our youth the high value of importance that community service has for a community.
Janene Sockman is the coordinator for this project at Bucktail High School.
“Our school district was invited by the organization to participate in “Pajamas Across America” in November and also help with their fundraiser that will help build and deliver beds to kids in our community who are sleeping on the floor,” read social media.
As part of the fundraiser, Bucktail High School and Renovo Heritage Park are urgently asking the public to help support the building of beds for kids and ensuring that “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”
Both organizations are asking for donations of new, never used, twin-size sheet sets, blankets, comforters, and pillows.
“The donation contest is among our School-wide Positive teams to see who collects the most items that will then be converted into points,” the post said. “The school teams that reach the point target will receive a reward.”
Renovo Heritage Park will be collecting items until next Friday, November 18 and donations must be turned in to Bucktail High School by Monday, November 21.
“The Heritage Park office at 530 Erie Avenue is open on Monday’s from 12 – 6:30 PM, or you can call Heritage Park at my number, 570-927-0117, and someone will make arrangements to meet you,” Mary said. “We love partnering with Bucktail Area High School!”
“Help us give every child a bed.”
