Muncy man found guilty in solicitation of minors case
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Following a two-day trial, a Clinton County jury returned guilty verdicts Wednesday morning on all charges against Gregory Scott Person, 51, of Muncy. The jury deliberated a little less than an hour before returning guilty verdicts on charges of corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and interference with custody of a child.
Clinton County First Assistant District Attorney Thom Rosamilia prosecuted the case for the Commonwealth. Rosamilia presented a series of facebook messages showing that Person had made arrangements to travel to Clinton County to meet with two young teenage girls in Mill Hall borough. Person promised to provide the young girls with gifts including nicotine vape pens and cash in exchange for the girls agreeing to provide Person with worn undergarments. Person told the girls that he had a “fetish” and would agree to meet them weekly and pay for the items.
Rosamilia also presented video surveillance showing Person traveling to a convenience store, with the minors in his vehicle, and purchasing the nicotine vape pens for the minors. Following Rosamilia’s presentation of the Commonwealth’s case, Person took the stand to testify in his defense. Person claimed that he was “just joking” about the sexual fetish and did not intend to engage in any untoward acts.
The jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges, and the trial judge, President Judge Craig P. Miller also found Person guilty of one count of furnishing tobacco to a minor. Sentencing will be held in three months after Person is evaluated to determine if he is a sexually violent predator. Person faces a maximum penalty of 19 years and 3 months in prison.
