By Bees O’Brien

FARWELL, PA- Despite getting a career high 150 yards from Tanner Pettingill, the Bucktail Bucks were unable to stop visiting Cameron County Friday night. The Red Raiders offense ran all over the Bucktail defense throughout the night, mainly behind the running of Malakai Zucal. The Cameron County freshman exploded for 115 yards on 17 attempts and also caught a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Neither team could find the end zone in the first quarter as it ended deadlock at 0-0.

The visiting Red Raiders would light the scoreboard up in the second quarter. Maddux Baughman would cap off a nice Cameron County drive with a 7-yard touchdown scamper. Zucal would convert the two-point play and Cameron County led 8-0.

With 2:45 remaining in the half, Baughman would find Zucal on a 16-yard score. Baughman would call his own number and build the Red Raiders lead to 16-0.

Bucktail would finally find life thanks to Pettingill. The big, bruising Bucktail back would show off his power with a burst through the Cameron County defensive front and then show his speed. He would then gallop 47 yards for Bucktail’s first score. He would then convert the two-point try and Bucktail trailed just 16-8.

Cameron County would strike back. They would be sparked by a 33-yard run from Zucal that would lead to a Baughman 1-yard score with just 42 seconds remaining in the half. Koby Shepard would catch Baughman’s two-point pass to extend the lead to 24-8 at the break.

Cameron County’s Jameson Britton would score on a 1-yard run on their first possession to open the second half. Baughman then would find Britton on the two-point try to extend the lead to 32-8.

Bucktail would find the end zone again in the fourth quarter with a 15-yard Braylon Fantaski run. Brett Mason’s PAT would be blocked to make it 32-14 in favor of the Red Raiders.

Sylus Pearson would set the final on a 6-yard Cameron County touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Bucks would fall 38-14 on Senior Night.

Pettingill’s strong night ended with 15 attempts for 150 yards and the touchdown. Braylon Fantaski rushed for 32 yards and the score. The rushing yards was a career high for Pettingill. Bucktail dropped to 2-3 on the season.
