Following a stroke, Lt. Gov. Fetterman says he’s fit to resume duties next week

HARRISBURG, PA – When the General Assembly returns to session next week, John Fetterman, who suffered a stroke this month and underwent a procedure to receive a pacemaker on Tuesday, will resume his post as lieutenant governor.

Fetterman, 52, submitted a formal declaration to the Legislature on Wednesday, informing House and Senate leaders that he is fit to serve, effective in four days.

On Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, R-Centre, would temporarily serve as acting lieutenant governor while Fetterman recovered.

Fetterman also won the Democratic nomination in the primary U.S. Senate race Tuesday. While recovering at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, he tweeted his thanks to voters when the polls closed on Election Night.
