Obituary
Harold “Gene” Summerson, 87, of McElhattan passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born July 9, 1934 in Renovo, he was a son of the late Harold “Whistle” and Violet Durendetto Summerson.
On July 18, 1992, he married his love, the former Leotta Merrill, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage.
Gene was the former owner of 4 Season Hotel & Motel, Renovo and also worked part-time at K & L Auto Sales.
He was a member of Swissdale United Methodist Church.
Gene liked going to yard sales. Along with his wife, he loved traveling, especially enjoying driving on road trips.
Most important to Gene, though, was his family.
In addition to his wife, Leotta M. Summerson of McElhattan, he is survived by two children, Eugenia “Jeannie” Lee and Patrick (Jane) Summerson; four step-children: Dennis (Sue) Caprio, Charlene (Glenn) Rich, Tammy (Clay) Allen and Steve (Sis) Butler; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many great, great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sylvia Stone and Gary Summerson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Pastor Jay Saldana officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swissdale United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
