Central Mountain’s Perry commits to Penn State wrestling
RENOVO, PA – When he wasn’t on the mat dominating opponents for the Central Mountain wrestling team this winter, dynamic freshman Dalton Perry was often seen in a Penn State sweatshirt. That proved to be a clue as to Perry’s college choice to continue his wrestling career. The Renovo young man confirmed Sunday night he has committed to join the Nittany Lion program after his high school career is over.
A family member said Perry is “definitely going” to Penn State after that information had been posted on social media. Perry finished his much anticipated freshman year with a 41-2 record, not losing a match since the December Power-Ade tournament and winning his last 26 bouts in a row and capping off his first year with a four-match sweep to a PIAA title.
His coach, Biff Walizer, had been an All-American at Penn State and Perry trains regularly with fellow scholastic wrestlers at a training facility near State College. The Nittany Lions have become the dominant college program in the United States over the last decade under head coach Cael Sanderson.
