New Fine Wine & Good Spirits location coming soon
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Come next month, for the first time in half a century, Lock Haven’s downtown business district will no longer be home to the state liquor store. As of Monday, March 14 a new Fine Wine & Good Spirits store will open for business in Clinton Plaza, off E. Walnut Street, three blocks south of its current location. And the existing store, a longtime E. Main Street staple, will close for good.
The new location is now stocked and ready to the change-over. Renovations to the former CVS drug store site began last summer, carried out by H. W. Raymond Company of Lock Haven.
The current state store has been at its E. Main Street, Lock Haven location since 1973, previously located across the street from the present site. The current location has been leased from longtime owner Ronnie Pete, a former local resident now residing in southeastern Pennsylvania. Pete had hoped to keep the store on E. Main Street but the state elected to move it to Clinton Plaza. Pete had been successful in keep the liquor store downtown some years back when the Commonwealth had considered relocating the store to Millbrook Plaza off Hogan Boulevard in Bald Eagle Township.
A spokesman for the state Liquor Control Board said there are tentative plans for a ribbon-cutting to mark the new story opening on March 14.
