Optimist Roundtable
By Martha Sykes
Did you ever stop and take time to count your blessings? We’ve all heard the saying about counting sheep before you go to sleep, but I have also heard that we can count our blessings instead of sheep. In fact there is a song that Bing Crosby sang once that says, “ When I’m worried and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep”. All we have to do is look around and see what others are going through and we can feel blessed. Just, for instance, this past weekend when we watched the storm that dumped a couple feet of snow on some cities, that makes us feel blessed! We still have snow on the ground so it is still a beautiful sight to see!!
I would like to share this poem that I wrote with you this week!! When I have time, I love to write poems, so I hope you enjoy it!
Our life is blessed by Jesus
In many different things
In love, in life, in people
Like kids with angel’s wings
Our life is blessed by faith we have In God each day we live
When we care for one another And when we decide to give
We know life gives us many ups and many downs
Through laughs, through tears, through smiles, through frowns
But God is with us each and every day
He loves us all and proves He is the way
For blessings come and blessings go but God remains the same
He never changes, never forsakes if we only pray His name
So it’s not the money, the time or the fame that makes us blessed so much
It’s God and everything we do that makes the special touch
On this day, may you feel blessed in more ways than you can count before you fall asleep! God bless!!
