State, county COVID cases spike
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Friday reported 7,604 new COVID-19 cases, the highest statewide total since 7,960 were recorded on Jan. 13 of this year.
3,095 COVID patients are hospitalized in the state, an increase of 65 from Thursday and the highest number since last spring. Those in intensive care on Friday numbered 702, up 23 from Thursday.
Clinton County reported 65 new cases for a total of 5,741, the most in one day since 70 were recorded on Nov. 10. In Centre County 89 new cases were recorded for a total of 22,017. Lycoming County added 192 new cases for a total of 18,470.
The state Friday reported 96 new deaths. The death count in Clinton County remained at 86.
