COVID testing clinic returning to Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, PA – It was announced at the Thursday meeting of the Clinton County Commissioners that the state Health Department has authorized the return of a public COVID testing clinic in Lock Haven.
Andrew Kremser, county emergency services director, said the clinic will be held at Lock Haven University from Tuesday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 4. Hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The exact site at LHU will be announced by press release shortly, Kremser said. He said the set-up will be for public walk-ups, as opposed to an earlier visit which was on a drive-through basis at the university.
The COVID testing announcement came as county commissioner Angela Harding noted the recent uptick in COVID cases in the county, 504 new cases over the past two weeks, and the number of county residents succumbing to the virus is increasing (up to 86, according to information from the state on Thursday, including three over the last three days). She pointed out the vaccination rate in the county is 42.3%, 56th of 67 Pennsylvania counties. Harding said for those vaccinated, it lessens the risk of getting COVID and lessens the risk of dying; she said 92% of those who die from COVID were not vaccinated. She said, “We need to care about each other.” She said the upcoming testing set-up on the LHU campus will be timely.
