KCSD and LHU stage mammoth Homecoming Parade
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The atmosphere was beyond festive in downtown Lock Haven Thursday night as the Keystone Central School District and Lock Haven University staged a collaborative Homecoming Parade on Main Street, followed by a pep rally at the university’s East Campus.
Better than 30 clubs, organizations, schools and athletic teams had parade entries. The parade featured a combined band with participants from the Central Mountain and LHU marching bands and Bucktail High School’s drum line. Participants came from the local university, five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. KCSD superintendent Jacquelyn Martin, a graduate of the school district’s former Sugar Valley High School and Lock Haven University, said she is unaware of any other community staging such a collaborative effort.
Parade judges announced the winners:
First place – Woodward Elementary’s Books Taking You to Infinity and Beyonod
Second place – Central Mountain cheerleaders’ Cheerleaders of the Galaxy
Third place – Robb Elementary, Home
