Brockway booters pull away from Wildcats

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – District 9 power Brockway came to Malinak Stadium undefeated at 16-0 on Monday night, and left with their resume still unblemished. After a 0-0 first half saw both teams trading chances on goal, Brockway found the net twice in the second half to pull out the win 2-0.

Central Mountain played well defensively in the first half, organized and covering the dangerous areas of the field well. Offensively, multiple chances were created thru the midfield and strong runs by the wingers. Freshman Lincoln Breon had two shots on target in the first half that, as Coach Bill Hook noted, gave the Wildcats positive looks and hope for the eventual goal.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the second half wasn’t as nice. Mistakes on the ball and errant passes hurt their build up, and Brockway became the aggressor who wanted to make the plays for the first goal of the game. Senior Clay Confer played well in net with 9 saves on the evening.

The Wildcats, now 6-11, are back in action Wednesday at home vs. Mifflinburg for their last regular season game. A win is most likely needed to help them reach the upcoming District 6 AAA playoffs. The ‘Cats are currently ranked third in the six-team AAA division. The girls’ soccer team kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and the boys follow at 7 p.m. Both contests will be streamed on therecord-online.
