Clinton moves to district title game with win over Jersey Shore Area, 23-2
WOOLRICH, PA – The Clinton Major softball team has clearly established itself as the team to beat in District 12 this season. Clinton scored early and often on Monday, piling up 23 runs in the winners’ bracket final against Jersey Shore Area at Woolrich. The final score was 23-2 in favor of Clinton and sets up a visit to the district final scheduled for Thursday at 5:45 p.m. at the team’s home field off Myrtle Street in Lock Haven. The opponent will come from the survivor among the rest of the four teams in the district competition; they are Jersey Shore, Williamsport and Loyalsock.
Clinton already owns an 8-0 win over Loyalsock, while Jersey Shore last week downed Williamsport by a 22-15 score.
Clinton scored five runs in the top of the first inning over Jersey Shore on Monday, added 16 in the second and two more in the third. ‘Shore put up its two runs in the second without benefit of a hit. Camdyn Weaver had a single for Clinton. The team benefitted from multiple walks issued by the opposing pitchers.
