Bucktail softball knocks off Muncy, 7-6
FARWELL, PA – A solid Muncy team a month ago knocked off the Buctktail softball team by a 5-2 score. The Lady Bucks returned the favor Friday with a nail-biting 7-6 win. The victory was a huge one for Coach Mike Poorman’s team, battling for the best seed they can get (and a home game or two) with the District 4 post-season tournament fast approaching.
But it wasn’t easy Friday. The game got tight, really tight, at the end. It was 2-2 after one, 4-3 Bucktail after two. The Lady Bucks stretched it out to 6-3 after four and 7-3 after six. But Muncy would score three times in the top of the seventh before Bucktail got the final out for the hard-earned 7-6 win.
Emma Poorman and Makenzie Wagner divided the pitching for Bucktail, Wagner going the final 4.2 innings for the win. She gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) and struck out four. Poorman went the first 2.1 innings, giving up three hits and three runs, striking out two.
Bucktail put up six hits and received eight walks. Hits included a triple from Lily Francis and a double and an RBI from Haley Burrows. Singles came from Wagner (along with three RBIs), Poorman, Alexis Lowery (with an RBI) and Kayla Probert. Jordan Burrows worked three walks and scored two runs; she also stole two bases.
Bucktail, now 11-4, has a home double-header with Sullivan County (3-9) on Monday. Muncy falls to 11-5 with the loss.
