Danville’s Wagner shuts down CM softball, 4-1
DANVILLE, PA – Danville lefty Morgan Wagner was again dominant in a second start against the Central Mountain softball team on Tuesday. The Towson State bound Wagner worked a 3-hitter to lead her team to a 4-1 win. The Lady Wildcats are 9-2 on the year, both losses inflicted by Wagner, a 2-0 2-hitter on April 13, followed by Tuesday’s 4-1 win. She struck out 18 in the April game, 16 Tuesday.
Central Mountain was held to one hit, a single from Allison Lininger through the first four innings; they got their lone run in the fifth, off a single from Alyssa Fisher and a double from Caitlyn Watson, but that was it offensively.
Danville, now 12-1, scored two in the first and two more in the fifth. CM Coach Fred Caldwell said his team was not as sharp as usual defensively and “you can’t do that against a quality team.” Two of the four Danville run were unearned. Adalynn McKeague went the distance for the Lady Wildcats, giving up three hits, striking out four and walking five.
Central Mountain returns home Thursday to take on Mifflinburg (5-10).
