AutoZone proposed for old Pizza Hut site on Hogan Boulevard

LOCK HAVEN, PA – AutoZone is looking to locate a retail store at the old Pizza Hut location along Hogan Boulevard.

The plans were presented to the Clinton County Planning Commission for its review on Tuesday night. Chris Peters of MDM Surveyors and Engineers represented Memphis-based AutoZone Development, LLC. The proposal calls for the demolition of the former Pizza Hut building and construction of a new 7,382 square foot auto parts store at 153 Hogan Boulevard. Site improvements would include 42 parking spaces.

The site is just over two acres and as noted at the meeting, the structure will be elevated 9.1 feet out of the flood plain. It was pointed out the Pizza Hut business had been inundated by four feet of water during Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Main element of discussion was vehicle traffic. The proposal would place access to the business parking lot in alignment with the entrance to Draketown Road on the other side of the boulevard.

The planning commission gave a favorable review to the AutoZone plans and unanimously agreed to forward the review to Bald Eagle Township for further action. The commission agreed a traffic study for a highway occupancy permit should take congestion factors into account and consideration should be given to the possibility of a traffic light at that location.

The site had housed a Pizza Hut from 1978 through 2018 when that business was relocated to Flemington. The building has sat empty since that time.
