Wildcats Take Two in Golf
MINGOVILLE – The Wildcat golf team only had to travel a short distance on the road to Mingoville Thursday to tee off with Bellefonte and Tyrone at the tricky 9-hole Nittany Country Club.
The weather looked threatening in the morning, but by tee time at 1 p.m., the sun was out and a nice breeze gave them a little extra challenge.
Team scores were the Wildcats, with the low total of 360, Bellefonte, 384 and Tyrone, 375. The overall medalist today was a tie of between Wildcat, Cole Reeder, and Ethan Vipond for Tyrone. Each carded an 86.
Other scores for the Wildcats were Gage Sorgen, 87, Peter Anastos, 103, Tyler Adair, 93, Justin Somers, 94 and Troy Smith, 115. Coach Williams’ golf team has now increased the win side by two more giving them a 21-6 record.
Coach Williams is very proud of the effort he is seeing this year at the practices and during the matches. “Peter Anastos just would not quit today, even though he was having a lot of pain in his left knee,” Williams commented.
The Wildcats head back to Selinsgrove again Monday to try their skills against the Heartland teams.
