Smith Furniture Finds a Home

DUNNSTOWN, PA – The remains of the showroom at Smith Furniture in Dunnstown fell to a demolition crew on Thursday, three weeks after a mammoth snow storm caused the roof of the showroom to give way.

Meanwhile Smith Furniture continues to ready at least a temporary home in the former Eagle Valley Bargains portion of the Calico Creek Building on Eagle Valley Road in Mill Hall.

Owner Jim Smith said this week that while the Eagle Valley Road site is being readied, customers may still contact the business by telephone at 570-748-5587 and appointments may be made. Furniture from the warehouse portion of the old site had been relocated following the December roof collapse. Smith said the business could be open at the new site possibly by the end of January.

Smith said the long range plans for a permanent location and the future of the business’s upholstery/repair operation are still to be determined, but said the 78-year-old furniture store will be back in business.
