KCSD Sports Pushed Back One Week

Barring further schedule adjustments, the first home athletic event at Central Mountain High School will be the King of the Mountain wrestling tournament Dec. 18 and 19. Tournament organizers are planning on making it a dual meet-style event this year.

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain High School athletic director George Bidwell announced Wednesday that the Keystone Central School District will push back by one week the start of pre-season practice for the winter sports season.

This Friday, Nov. 20 is the PIAA-established first date that high school athletes in Pennsylvania can begin official workouts in preparation for the start of winter-time basketball, wrestling and swimming seasons. But because of COVID-19, that start date within KCSD will be missed by one week, per the Bidwell announcement:

As you may know, Keystone Central School District has moved to Remote Learning through November 25, 2020 with the hopes of returning to in person learning after Thanksgiving Break (December 2, 2020).

At this time, our winter sports season is delayed 1 week. Therefore, our winter sports teams are permitted to begin pre-season practices on November 27, 2020. The result of this impacts our ability to compete during week 1 of the regular season. Therefore – all scheduled contests during week 1 are postponed with the hopes of rescheduling. Unfortunately, we will not attend scheduled tournaments during this week as well.

We will begin our competition schedule in week 2 of the regular season. Our first date of competition is December 18, 2020.

It’s very important to wear your mask, maintain social distance and follow all other safety precautions put in place.

Protect Yourself – Protect Your Team – Protect Your Season!

Take care, stay positive and stay safe!

We’ll be in touch with any updates we receive in the future.

All winter sports at both Bucktail and Central Mountain High Schools are covered by the announcement.
