Four LHU Wrestlers Ranked in Preseason Poll
LOCK HAVEN – Four members of the Lock Haven University wrestling team were ranked in the 2014 Associated Wrestling Press Preseason NCAA Division I Individual Rankings, with senior Fred Garcia (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) leading the way at 184 pounds with a No. 23 ranking.
Redshirt-junior Dan Neff (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) is ranked No. 25 at 149 pounds.
Both Garcia and Neff have earned back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Redshirt-junior Bobby Rehm (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) is ranked No. 28 at 141 pounds.
Rounding out the nationally-ranked Bald Eagles, is redshirt-junior Phil Sprenkle (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown), who is ranked No. 31 at 197.
Both Neff and Rehm will move up a weight class for the 2014-15 season.
Garcia went 25-9 last season and finished second at the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships, on the way to this second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. He enters the 2014-15 season with 69 career wins.
Neff went 32-10 last season and qualified for this second consecutive NCAA Tournament. He’ll move up to 149 pounds this season, taking with him 73 career wins.
Rehm redshirted last season, but went 29-9 unattached while competing primarily at 141 pounds.
Sprenkle was 21-11 a year ago, capping the season with a second-place finish at the 2014 EWL Championships.
