LINCOLN, Neb. – Penn State trimmed an early 21-point deficit to just seven points late, but Nebraska came up with a pair of fourth down stops in the red zone to hang on for a 30-23 victory in Big Ten football action Saturday afternoon in Memorial Stadium. Penn State falls to 0-4 with the loss, only the second such start in Nittany Lion history.

Penn State (0-4, 0-4 Big Ten) quarterback Will Levis threw for a career-high 219 yards on 14-of-31 passing after entering the game in the second quarter, and running backs Keyvone Lee and Devyn Ford ran for a touchdown each in the second half, as the Nittany Lions outscored Nebraska (1-2, 1-2 Big Ten) 17-3 over the final 30 minutes. However, it was not enough to overcome a 27-6 halftime deficit, as the Huskers stopped Penn State on fourth-and-10 from the Nebraska 11-yard line and with 3:37 remaining and again on fourth-and-goal from the 13 with 31 seconds remaining.

Levis replaced two-year starter Sean Clifford at quarterback after Clifford committed two turn-overs, the second a fumble returned for a score which put the ‘Huskers up by a 24-3 score at the time.

Penn State outgained Nebraska by a 501 to 298 yard margin, but remains winless four games into the 2020 season, one that began with a pre-season Top 10 ranking.

The Nittany Lions will try to pick up their first win next Saturday, Nov. 21, hosting Iowa, game time to be announced. The Hawkeyes (2-2) won their second in a row Friday night, a 35-7 road win at Minnesota.
