Ross Library Radio Auction Sept. 18

LOCK HAVEN – Are you interested in season passes to Millbrook Playhouse or local sporting events, beautiful paintings or handcrafted items from local artists, gift cards to local businesses? Your chance for these neat items and more is right around the corner!
The Ross Library Radio Auction, an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Ross Library, is slated for Thursday, September 18, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The radio auction will be broadcast on Lock Haven radio station WBPZ 1230 AM, starting at 8:30 a.m. (although callers can start bidding at 8:00 a.m. that day) and auction chairman Wayne Allison says this year’s event could be the biggest yet.
“Our Friends members have done a great job of collecting items, and our local businesses have been very generous,” said Allison. “The radio auction will feature nearly 300 items. We really appreciate the support from the business community; now we need people to call in and bid!”
The telephone number people will call on September 18 to place a bid is 570-484-3863. People can see a list of auction items – including photos of selected items — by visiting the Ross Library’s web site at www.rosslibrary.org. In addition, several of the auction items are on display at the Library and people can place bids for those items in advance.
Auction items include a range of gift certificates for local goods and services, framed paintings and photographs and other handcrafted items from local artists, sports passes, overnight stays from local hotels and bed and breakfasts, and much more.
“We’ve got a great variety of items – something for everyone’s interests,” said Allison, adding that a number of businesses have also made financial contributions to support the Library. He said a full listing of auction items and contributors will be published in The Express newspaper on Tuesday, September 16 so people can preview items prior to the auction.
All proceeds from the radio auction benefit the programs and services of the Ross Library, which also includes satellite library facilities in Renovo and Beech Creek, and the “Library on Wheels” program which provides monthly delivery services to senior citizen and day care facilities throughout Clinton County.
