Bridge Repair Project in Wayne Township
WAYNE TOWNSHIP – The $1.5M repair project has begun on the McElhattan Bridge carrying Route 1005 (McElhattan Drive) over the West Branch of the Susquehanna River north of the Wayne Township village. A detour began late last month and will continue until Oct. 25. The bridge was constructed in 1971 and is currently on the state’s structurally deficient bridge list. Work is being performed by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College. Improvements are to include deck and sub-structure repairs. The detour utilizes Routes 150 and 220. PennDOT says the bridge carries more than 3,700 vehicles a day. Record photo – John Lipez
