Leah J. Patterson – Obituary

Leah J. Patterson, 89, of Lock Haven passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Born August 4, 1931 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Baird and Sydney (Macgregor) Baird.

Leah was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.

She celebrated 58 years of marriage with her love, Eugene L. Patterson, before his passing on October 31, 2007.

Leah was employed by Sylvania and then worked as an in-home caregiver.

She was a collector of dolls and served as the President of the Lock Haven Doll Club, a branch of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

In her early years, she enjoyed taking various daytrips, often going to New York City and the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

If there was a yard sale, Leah was sure to be there.  Her treasures allowed her to become a flea market dealer, setting up toys, dolls, jewelry and vintage glassware at the Avis Fire Company and Antes Fort flea markets.

She liked gardening as well as doing Seek-A-Word and jigsaw puzzles.

Leah enjoyed her weekly trip to Katy VanHorn’s to get her hair done and cherished her friendship with Katy and her husband, Jim.

Surviving is her daughter, Debra (Larry) Glass of Lock Haven; two sisters, Faye (Ronald) Hill of Virginia and Barbara Mahaffey of Florida; five grandchildren: Amber Donges, Rachel Meskell, Jason Meskell, Autumn Glass and Larry Glass; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Harvey and Richard Baird and her beloved dog, Precious, who passed away just days before her.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 1:30 P.M. at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745 to assist with funeral expenses.
