Road work on Route 26 to start Monday

STATE COLLEGE – Work to improve various routes in Centre and Clinton counties will get underway on Monday, Aug. 25.

A PENNDOT announcement this week said the first road to see work activity will be the Pine Grove Mountain section of Route 26. Crews will be working to extend the useful life of the pavement and improve the ride quality of the roadway surface. Work will include milling, scratch and resurfacing.

After work on Route 26 is complete, crews will move to Route 4001 (Kettle Creek) in Clinton County. Before the end of the year, work will also take place on Route 3027 (Spike Island Road) near Sandy Ridge in Centre County and Route 477 (Long Run) in Clinton County.

Drivers should expect short travel delays as flaggers enforce an alternating traffic pattern through the work zone. Work will take place during daylight hours.

This work is part of a $4.9 million contract to improve the road surface of nine routes in Centre and Clinton counties. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this project. In 2015, five other routes will see similar work and PennDOT will issue an update on the project as work activity moves to a new location.

All work is weather and schedule dependent.
