Rita M. Royer -Obituary
Rita M. Royer, 76, a resident of Manor Care, Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 11, 1938 in Renovo, she was the daughter of Joseph J. Mainguth who died while serving in WWII and Thelma Burrows Farwell who preceded her in death in 2005.
Rita graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1956. She then attended Reading Medical Center’s School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1959.
She then joined the United States Air Force National Guard, serving as a Lieutenant.
Rita enjoyed attending chapel services where she resided.
She loved nature, outdoor activities, fishing, and her favorite relaxation spot in Potter County.
Rita also enjoyed reading, studying, doing crossword puzzles and word games, collecting coins, and sharing her faith.
Surviving is a sister, Lorraine Farwell Norton of Milford, CT; a niece, Christine Norton of Milford, CT; and nephews: Benjamin Norton and son, Ethan of North Beach, MD and Stephen Norton and son, Charlie of Milford, CT.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald J. Mainguth in2002.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Mahlon Nevel officiating. Private burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
