Joint LHU/High School Homecoming Announced
LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven University, Central Mountain High School, and Bucktail Area High School have all come together for a Homecoming collaboration. This year all three county schools will be part of a combined Homecoming Parade on Main Street in Lock Haven. This parade will take place on Thursday, September 26 and will begin at 6 p.m. All sports, clubs, and other extra-curricular activities part of these schools are encouraged to participate in the parade, as many alumni will be in attendance.
the parade is over, a pep rally will take place in the gymnasium of the old Lock Haven High School building on W. Main Street for Central Mountain High School and Bucktail Area High School students. This rally will include games, food, music, and company as they celebrate what homecoming means to them as a whole.
-Interact Club Advisor, Mike Kramer decided to take part in this parade to show the club’s “True Blue” school spirit. In doing so he hopes to promote the Rotary-Interact Club’s slogan, “Service Above Self” with the student body and with the community. He shared that it’s a perfect opportunity for uniting the club members as they design their float and take part in such an event.
LHU President Dr. Robert Pignatello said, “We are excited to partner with the Keystone Central School District on this new opportunity for a fun community event. We look forward to welcoming alumni back and strengthening the relationship between us and the school district, which will benefit the community.”
Superintendent of Keystone Central School District, Jacquelyn Martin, said, “As an alum of Keystone Central (Sugar Valley ’86) and Lock Haven University, I am excited that we are kicking off our homecoming weekend together with a parade. President Pignatello and I believe that this event will amplify the importance of celebrating our schools and encourage alumni to support our current students. On my first day in the district, Keystone Central students shared with me that they would like more support from the community at their events.” Martin shared her goal for this event, “It is my hope that this event will promote positive energy and encourage more folks to come out and support our teams and activities.”
