Clinton Junior All-Stars Bow Out with 7-5 Loss to Fairchance
BERWICK – The Clinton Junior All-Stars put up a valiant effort but fell to Fairchance, 7-5 in the consolation round of the Pennsylvania Little League Softball tournament.
Clinton was trailing Fairchance 2-0 heading into the fourth inning and collected 5 runs to take the lead.
Bree Weaver led off the with a base hit, then with 1 out on the board, Hana Styers laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance pinch runner Claire Long to second base. Kelsey Burrows would reach base on a Freechance error, advancing Long to third base. Maddie Hardy would step in for a big double to center field that would score both Burrows and Long to knot the score at 2-all.
Adalyn McKeague would single to right field to plate Hardy followed by a walk for Delaney Cohen and a big double for Julia Schubach to score both McKeague and Cohen for a 5-2 Clinton lead. Unfortunately that lead would not stand long.
Freechance came to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning to add 2 more runs, then 3 more in the bottom of the fifth inning to build the 7-5 lead while stifling the Clinton bats for the remainder of the game.
Weaver was 2-2 at the plate for Clinton while Hardy was 1-2 and 2 RBI. Madi Toner, Audrey Walker, McKeague (RBI), and Schubach all had one hit each for Clinton.
It was McKeague in the circle for Clinton yielding 6 hits, 1 walk, striking out 4 Fairchance batters in 6 innings work.
Clinton ends their 2019 Little League post season campaign with a 3-3 record.
