City Boat Dock Installation Begins

LOCK HAVEN – Saturday saw a crew from HUC, Inc. take the preliminary steps toward installation of a city boat dock on the south side of the Susquehanna River.

A worker was chest-high in the river as a coffer dam was being built so that footers can be poured to anchor the 60-foot long dock. A city spokesman said the footers have to cure for 14 days so if the project stays on schedule the dock should be in operation sometime in the latter part of July. Installation work had been pushed back due to recent high water.

The dock, to be located between the Corman Amphitheater and Veterans Bridge, is designed to provide boaters with a connection to Lock Haven, and is designed to be removed during winter or high water events.

Funding includes local contributions and a $14,250 grant awarded last year through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Keystone Communities program.
