Lady Bucks Rebound with 10-0 Whitewash of Williamson

FARWELL – The Bucktail Lady Bucks, behind some timely hitting and the right arms of the Poorman sisters, picked up some late regular season momentum Thursday, the result a 10-0, five inning win over visiting Williamson.

Emma Poorman went the first three innings, picking up the win, and Myka Poorman the last two, combining on a five-inning no-hitter, striking out a total of seven while issuing three walks. Meanwhile eight different Lady Bucks peppered the Farwell field, putting up 12 hits, including three from Jordan Burrows and two each from Myka Poorman and Raileigh Issacs. Emily Intallura had a double and singles were provided by Emily Cross, Emma Poorman, Tessa Cowfer and Sara Kepler.

Bucktail scored in every inning but the third and broke things open in the bottom of the second with five runs, coasting home.

The win pushed the Lady Bucks to 17-2 on the year, Williamson falling to 3-15. And in another non-league game, Lewisburg knocked off Montgomery on Thursday by a score of 4-1, putting the Lady Raiders at 16-3 and elevating Bucktail back into first place in the District 4 Class A standings.

Bucktail has one regular season game remaining, a Friday trip to Galeton (11-6-1). The Tigers played to a 4-4 tie with Oswayo Valley on Thursday.

Bucktail has received some preliminary word on the postseason: This Saturday is the cutoff date for seeding purposes, the opening (quarterfinal round) scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, the semifinals on Thursday, May 23 and the district final now listed for Thursday, May 30. More information should be available on Sunday, May 19. If past form holds, the Lady Bucks should have at least one home game.
