Lady Bucks Get Back to Winning Ways
FARWELL – It took but 24 hours for the Bucktail softball team to move on from Monday’s dispiriting loss to Montgomery. St. John Neumann came to Farwell Tuesday and the Lady Bucks did a lot of good things in putting up an 11-1, five inning win over the Williamsport-based school.
It was close for a couple innings, 1-0 in favor of Bucktail. But the home team piled up 10 runs in the bottom of the third on the way to the 11-1 final. The Lady Bucks got their hitting touch back, too, piling up 10 in all, including a homerun from Raileigh Isaacs, a 3-run dinger. Five of their hits were for extra bases, including doubles from Myka Poorman and Sara Kepler and triples from Emma Intallura and Emily Cross who also added a single.
Other singles came from Jordan Burrows, Emma Poorman and Rachel Goss. The offensive performance was tidy, just two runners left on base, the team also accumulating four steals.
The Poorman sisters split the circle duties, combining for a 3-hitter, fanning nine and walking five. The lone St. John Neumann run was unearned.
St. John Neumann fell to 3-8 with the loss. Bucktail is now 15-1, 12-1 in Mid-Penn play. Next up for coach Mike Poorman’s team is a Thursday game at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech (7-9) and home Saturday, May 11, an 11 a.m. game with Cowanesque Valley (1-8).
